Simon & Garfunkel

‘OLD FRIENDS’ IN CONCERT

Arriving in Australia this week

In just a couple of days, Simon & Garfunkel will arrive in Australia on their Old Friends In Concert tour, after a 25 year absence.  They performed two sell-out, standing ovations concerts at Auckland’s Vector Arena this past weekend, and with rave reviews from the New Zealand public and media, these two performances have set the mood for one of the most anticipated concert events of the decade.

The New Zealand media has poured accolades on Simon & Garfunkel –

“They breathed life into the songs and sound of their own era which took this beyond nostalgia.” – NZ Herald

Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel’s long awaited tour will thrill audiences with the genius and artistry that created songs of a generation including 'The Sound of Silence', 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', 'The Boxer', 'Mrs. Robinson', 'Homeward Bound', 'Scarborough Fair/Canticle', 'I Am a Rock', 'A Hazy Shade of Winter', 'America' and 'At the Zoo' to name just a few.

“Two perfectly unique and unmistakable voices then melted together and plenty of spines were almost immediately chilled.” – Fairfax Media

To start the show mega screens lit up the audience with a brief film containing footage and photos from the past 50 years of the history the act shares. Art and Paul then took the stage to perform Old Friends/Bookends, followed by the duo's long list of hits.

Separately they played their trademark songs which have made each a solo success.

Art was the first to take the stage with impassioned versions of three of his songs including the No.1 hit, Bright Eyes.  “When Garfunkel began to climb the gospel hill to one of pop’s most dramatic crescendos . . . his every fibre flowed into the song that he first sang 40 years ago” – Dominion Post.

Paul Simon then gave the show a touch of Graceland along with Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard, Boy in the Bubble and Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes – a performance which brought the house down.  “He looks (and sounds) 20 years younger” – Dominion Post.

Michael Chugg, Executive Chairman of Chugg Entertainment, said “It has been a dream to bring Paul and Art back to Australia and a long time coming. I was in New Zealand and had chills down my spine, I could tell the audience felt the same way, it was just magical.  I can’t wait to watch the shows in Australia and see the audience singing along to some of the greatest songs ever written... I’ve seen a lot of concerts over the years, but this show is definitely a once in a lifetime gig”.

A seven-piece band, packed with incredible talent, joined the two artists to help crank out an evening of unforgettable music.  The audience was sent home with a smile on their face and countless hummable melodies throughout their minds.
